Ventpack, an application for designing ventilation and air conditioning systems.

Ventpack is represented in the AutoCAD window by an additional toolbar (Figure 1) and an additional menu bar - "FDBES". The application interface is similar to the AutoCAD interface, this is why working in FDBES is easy even for beginner users of AutoCAD.

Due to it's parametric libraries, our application automates the process of drawing installations. Using the "Continuous drawing" function, the user must only trace the installation axis on the plane view drawing and Ventpack automatically inserts straight ducts and elbows with the required dimensions. Ventpack supports the selection of duct cross sections by automatically calculating air velocity, informing the designer whenever the maximum or minimum conditions are exceeded. It performs pressure loss analysis and generates list of elements for designed installations. The "Error report" function helps to handle errors and warnings within the project. Ventpack allows the user to determine various parameters of the drawing and ventilation systems at will, including drawing scale, types and default properties of ventilation library elements (ducts, knees, T-pieces, etc.), as well as the graphic parameters of numbering, dimensioning and information tables. All defined settings are saved in a user profile that can be reused in later projects.

  • Available for everybody
Hard to believe? But how better to describe CAD software that automates the process of drawing installations, makes available open and very detailed equipment libraries, performs pressure loss analysis, automatically creates specification of designed elements, and costs only 1333,- EUR (for the 2.0 version)? The increase in work efficiency covers the purchase costs in as little as one month's time.

  • Simplicity of 2D with advantages of 3D
Yes, it is possible. Even though designing in Ventpack is done in 2D, it is still possible to automatically create cross sections of the installation. FDBES elements are not 3D objects but flat AutoCAD blocks constructed of simple lines and curves. Thus, drawing file sizes are kept relatively small, so standard hardware available in practically every designing office is sufficient to run the program.

  • Equipment libraries without limitations
It is true - with Ventpack, you can draw any element required for your installation owing to unusually rich "general libraries" (without determining the manufacturer). If you cannot find a specific element that you require, you can still define this element as a "nonstandard element", with the full functionality of regular elements selected from the libraries. When executing a working project, you have another possibility - libraries of manufacturers.

  • New dimensions to manufacturer CAD libraries
Ventpack enables equipment manufacturers to provide designers access to their own element libraries, having unlimited possibilities for description details; all options, accessories, dimensional range, including hydraulic characteristics can be specified. This means real CAD designing, without the use of any "paper" catalogue sheets or searching through CD-ROMs. Ventpack guarantees complete service for every manufacturer, enabling automatic updating of their libraries for users of the program.

  • Each floor on a separate drawing (*.dwg file)
The "Project explorer" is a tool that allows designing of installations where each floor is stored in a separate drawing (*.dwg file), managing these within one project for the whole building. The elevation and width of floors is defined in the "Table of stories". It is then enough to link each defined floor to the appropriate plane view drawing, including it in the project. It is also possible to generate building cross section drawings (Figure 4), where the program automatically draws horizontal lines to indicate the floors. When joining installations on the cross section drawing (using vertical ducts), the program automatically updates all plane view drawings. This way the continuity of the installation is preserved for hydraulic calculations and the list of elements.

  • Ventpack shall number, dimension and specify all materials
No more messy numbering, dimensioning and preparing material specifications! Ventpack performs these operations automatically in no time, so you can concentrate on solving engineering issues. You should also not be afraid to make changes in basic design even during the stage of generating documentation, because all material specifications are updated dynamically. The program automatically corrects element numbers even if you make modifications to those already numbered.

  • Pressure loss calculations
Once designing of the installation is completed, you will receive a detailed report for each system, containing the total pressure drop in the most critical branch as well as the pressure required for proper hydraulic regulation of all the other branches. You also receive information regarding local and linear resistance for each element while designing, which considerably facilitates controlled dimensioning of the installation.
